What are porcelain fused to metal crowns?

As can be understood from its name, porcelain fused to metal crowns are made by placing metal alloy under porcelain during the construction phase. The porcelain placed on the metal is affected by the metal under it in the crowns fused to metal made by using chromium-cobalt or chromium-nickel alloy that is suitable for dental tissue and has necessary durability. Since the metal at infrastructure does not transmit light, it creates a matt view and a dark colour in the gum line. For this reason, fused to metal crowns are not esthetically recommended, especially for the teeth in the front region.
